Names

People in Ghana named their children according to the day of the week on which they were born.  On Sunday a child would be named a certain name.

Ethnic Groups

  Some of the ethnic groups where Akan, Ga, Ewe, Guan, and Moshi-Dagomba. The languages where Twi, Fante, Gao, Ewe, Dgbeni, Hausa, and Nzima.

Soninke houses

The Soninke peoples' houses were made of clay and wood.

Using Gold

Ghanians used gold to make masks, jewelry, or coins.

The Bambara 

The Bambara people are Islamic but still preserve their ancient religion and manner of life.  They made many masks sculptures.  The sculptures contain pictures of early ancestors, fertility fetishes, and twin statues.

The Mande

The Mande people believed that someone who failed to live up to family obligations  betrayed their ancestors.  If these ancestors were displeased they could cause personal disasters like crop failures, loss of business and disease.

The Mandinka

The Mandinka people were proud and reserved, which reflected in their art, music, dance, and literature.  Their ceremonies were expressions of pride in their culture and history.
