Industry

The Canaanites were mostly shepherds or nomads, until Solomon was king. Then they branched off into farmers and potters. The Canaanites took their work very seriously, and were hard workers.

Canaanite Potters

The Canaanite people were very good potters, though their work was more useful than decorative.  To make it, they mixed the clay with water, made it more pliable by adding terracotta or sand, then worked it on a wheel, or by hand.

Herding

Farming

The Canaanites herded sheep and goats.  They used the sheep and goats as pets, food, and money from trading.  The Canaanites traded  among themselves for other animals. When they traded with other civilizations they traded for money.

Early farming in Canaan was done with wood sickles and other wooden tools. Then, King Solomon took over the kingdom and expanded it. This meant they were able to mine in the forest. They mined copper and iron. The copper and iron were used to trade. It was also used to make stronger tools which made farming and other jobs easier.

This is a picture of what you might have worn if you lived in Canaan.

This is a stone menorah.
