Culture

Most of the Israelites' culture was based on their religion, Judaism.  The only thing the Israelites did for fun was they danced and played music.

Pot & Dome

Ekron

This is a pot and dome from a shrine in Canaan.

This is a statue of a god during the time of the Israelites.

Art & Music

In Ancient Israel the arts were either religious or made to help their daily life. Most of their music was also religious. The Israelites are known for their  creative dancing, though. They danced when they won wars, and at most religious ceremonies.

Agricultural Holidays

There are two main agricultural holidays: Passover and Shavuot.  In Passover the Israelites could not eat anything that had flour in it.  The Israelites had no time to let the bread rise so they  had to eat 'Matza'. Matza is bread without yeast, which means it is flat bread.  Shavout is based on the first fruit of the seven species: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, olives, and dates.
