School, Chores,  and Jobs

Oh My! Oh My!

Once he was done with that he made a list of all the items in his pack. the list looked somewhat like this:

1. Plate holder
2.  Box of glass plates
3. Trays
4.  Bottles of chemicals
5.  Stirring rods
6. Measuring glasses
7. Jugs for water
8. Dark tent
9.  Tripod
10. Camera

In the year 1880, Eastman quit his job at the bank to start experimenting with chemicals to make a "dry plate" to make it easier to take pictures. After mixing chemicals in 485 experiments to make a dry plate, Eastman finally succeeded. He still was not satisfied though. He thought he should make a paper film. By mixing more chemicals he finally got something that satisfied him.

Eastman thought he should make a smaller camera for his new "paper film". So, for three years, he made different sizes to see if it fit the film. The final version was 22 ounces, 6 3/4 inches deep, and 3 3/4 inches wide. The new candy bar sized camera cost only $25 and came with a carrying strap and a leather case.

All it needed was a name. He wanted K at both ends because he thought it was a strong letter. He tried KOP… "No personality." KOU… "To easy to misspell." KOD… KODAK! He needed the slogan to be short and snappy. After thinking about it he decided to use: "You press the button, we do the rest. Eastman introduced the new camera in 1888.
