Thebe, the fourth satellite of
Jupiter was discovered by Stephen Synnott in 1979. In Greek mythology, Thebe (a nymph) was the daughter Asopus (the river god). Thebe rotates synchronously with Jupiter. There is very little information known about Thebe.
