MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 1: Spanish Actress Honored For Success
Spanish-born actress, Penelope Cruz, was honored in a ceremony in Paris, France, on Wednesday, January 11, 2006. France’s culture minister, Renaud Donnedieu De Vabres, made Cruz a Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters. He honored her for her international film career where she has performed roles in French, Italian, English, and her native language, Spanish.
Cruz humbly accepted the honor and was joined at the ceremony by friend and co-star in the upcoming film, “Bandidas,” Salma Hayek.
Previous recipients of the Knight award include Leonardo DiCaprio, director Martin Scorsese, and Bruce Willis.
Cruz has starred in roles in “Blow,” “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin,” and “Vanilla Sky.”
