Its that time of the year again. The race for Grammies is already on. Golden Globes is another ceremonial event and the biggest of stars desire the honor of receiving one of these awards. The race is on, the stage is set, and the time is now…

"About Schmidt," starring Jack Nicholson, competes with "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" for "Best Picture: Drama" category. The other movies in the race are "The Pianist," "Gangs of New York," and "The Hours." About Schmidt is about a man who is recounting his past and not counting on his future. He ends up getting an entire new perspective on how to look at his life. "Gangs of New York" approaches New York City from a historical point of view. It tells the story of the gangs, crime and corruption in New York City from the perspective a young man played by Leonardo DiCaprio named Amsterdam. "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" is the only above-mentioned movie in the PG-13 category that ensures entertainment for young viewers with its snazzy, larger than life graphics, and special effects.

For "Best Actor: Drama," Leonardo DiCaprio is up against Jack Nicholson for their performances in "Catch Me if You Can" and "About Schmidt" respectively. Catch Me if You Can is a comedy about Leonardo DiCaprio's genius character Frank being chased by Carl Hanratty, an FBI agent played by Tom Hanks. Other actors competing for the award are Adrien Brody in "The Pianist," Michael Caine in "The Quiet American," and Daniel Day-Lewis in "Gangs of New York."

For "Best Actress: Drama" category, Salma Hayek in "Frida" goes against Nicole Kidman in "The Hours," Diane Lane in "Unfaithful," Julianne Moore in "Far From Heaven," and Meryl Streep in "The Hours."
