On February 3, 1924, Woodrow Wilson died in Washington, D.C. at the age of 67. Wilson was the 28th president of the United States. Elected president in 1912, Wilson tried to find a peaceful end to World War I. He was the first president to be buried in the nation’s capital.



On February 4, 1789, the first president of the United States was elected. George Washington won the votes of all 69 presidential electors. As president, Washington helped unite the nation and protect its interests. He was unanimously reelected in 1792 but refused a third term four years later. Washington died on December 14, 1799.



On February 7, 1964 the Beatles visited the United States. Once of the most popular music groups of that time, the Beatles had just scored their first number 1 hit on U.S. charts a few days earlier. More than 3,000 screaming fans almost caused a riot when they tried to greet the Beatles at New York’s Kennedy Airport.
