MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 2: Michael J. Fox's Team For Parkinson's Research
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research has introduced Team Fox(tm), a grassroots campaign that provides helpful tools and resources for people across the country who wish to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson's research. With Team Fox, there are countless fun and creative ways to get involved--members have walked, blogged, jogged, paddled, pedaled, shopped, danced and flipped pancakes for Parkinson's.
Team Fox is a chance for anyone to turn their next marathon, golf tournament, auction or special event into a fundraising opportunity to support the work of the Foundation. Being involved with this team of inspiring fundraisers can help people in the Parkinson's community feel motivated and empowered by their ability to make a difference.
Team Fox officially hit the ground running in November 2005 at the ING New York City Marathon. Twenty-three runners participated and raised over $70,000 for the Foundation. Team Fox is currently recruiting runners for the 2006 marathon and looks forward to raising even more contributions this year.
The Team Fox Web site--www.teamfox.org--provides members with registration information, fundraising resources and facts about Parkinson's disease.
Upon registering, members receive various tools to help them reach their goals, such as online fundraising reports, a personal email center, an individual Team Fox(tm) Web page, the Team Fox Playbook of Fundraising Tips, access to the Team Fox logo, stickers, banners, promotional materials, and a Team Fox singlet for athletes.
"So many people have already made such a significant impact in raising funds for Parkinson's research," said Deborah W. Brooks, Foundation president and CEO. "We are grateful for their generosity, and excited for their future fundraising efforts to be as rewarding as possible, with the help of Team Fox."
Whether a Team Fox member participates in honor or in memory of a loved one with Parkinson's, to celebrate an anniversary or a special event, or simply to get involved and challenge themselves, each individual can help make a difference to bring an end to Parkinson's disease.
