MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 2: Stan “The Man” Lee Settles Lawsuit

Stan Lee, the creator of such comic standards as the Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, the X-Men, and Spiderman, has settled in a lawsuit with Marvel Comics.

Lee, who is still under contract working with Marvel at the age of 82, filed suit in 2002. In the suit, he alleged that he was entitled to a percentage of the money being made from certain movies and toys, particularly the Spiderman movie. The lawsuit also included the X-men, since that movie was a blockbuster for Marvel.

Many consider Lee the godfather of modern comics, with many of his creations still top sellers and prominently featured at Marvel. He could briefly be seen in both Spiderman movies in a small cameo role, and he was in the X-Men film during the beach scene when the mutated senator washed on shore.

In other Marvel news, several movies are on the horizon for the company. Ghost Rider, supposedly played by Nicholas Cage, is currently in production. And the long awaited Fantastic Four movie is in post production and will be ready for release this year. Spiderman 3 will be moving into production soon. The new X-Men film, which has a new director after Bryan Singer moved to the new Superman movie, is currently going through script re-writes and will move into production soon. A spin off of the X-Men movie--a solo film featuring Wolverine--will go into production after that.
