WEEKLY NEWS 3: Hurricane Season 2006
The first of June started the new season for the gulf coast--the Hurricane Season. Some experts say this year's Hurricane Season threatens to hold as much shock and devastation as the previous season, in which the notable Hurricane Katrina took the nation by storm.
As meteorologists across the nation predict the first hurricane, named Alberto, many residents along the gulf coast are preparing for new hurricanes that are expected to be stronger and cause more destruction than last season's.
Residents have been warned and notified of such dangers and predictions, and many of the residents have already begun to stock up their homes with food, water, and fuel for a possible sudden evacuation. Most of the residents of the gulf coast were witnesses to the devastations of Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina, which were the most damaging hurricanes in 2005.
Now that the nation is more aware of the amount of destruction a hurricane can cause, more state, governmental and personal precautions are have been put in place to ensure the security of residents. Most homes are being equipped with stronger metals and woods to protect against glass shattering, sand bags are being filled and placed in potential flood areas, and those still displaced by Hurricane Katrina and living in trailers are planning for earlier evacuations to ensure safety.
As more precautions and safety measures are put in place, residents of the gulf coast are starting to feel more secure and prepared for this season's hurricanes.
