MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 1: “Buffy” Gets A New Act
Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of the TV show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” is about to star in a new horror movie. The movie, simply called “Alice,” is based on a video game released in 2000.
The video game is based on characters created by Lewis Carroll, particularly Alice from "Alice in Wonderland." In the game--and the movie--Alice has grown up. Her family was in an accident and to help herself cope, she returns to Wonderland, only to find that the once magical place has taken a turn for the worst. She must face the new problems if she wants to return Wonderland to the place she remembers from her childhood.
For Gellar, this is just another horror movie to add to her list of dark films. With the exception of the Scooby Doo franchise, she has mostly starred in science fiction and/or horror movies.
In other movie news, Allen Cumming will not be returning as Nightcrawler in “X3,” the third in the series of X-Men films. It was announced on his website this week that he will not be joining the rest of the cast in Canada to begin filming. This came only weeks after the new director had made comments that all of the same cast members would be returning for "X3." It’s unknown if another actor will step into the role of Nightcrawler or if the character has been written out of the script.
