Ten Ohio Golfers Set to Compete in 2007 Westfield Junior PGA Championship

WESTFIELD CENTER, Ohio, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten of the top junior golfers from throughout Ohio are scheduled to play in the 2007 Westfield Junior PGA Championship, July 11-14, at Westfield Group Country Club, Westfield Center, Ohio. The 10 golfers represent the second-largest Ohio contingent in the tournament's 32-year history. Thirteen players in 2006 is the Ohio record.

Northern Ohio PGA Section champions Johnny Burke, Bay Village, and Katie Jurenovich, Warren, will join Southern Ohio PGA Section champions Tyler Hawk, Batavia, and Marissa Steen, West Chester. In addition, six other standout Ohio junior golfers will compete, including: Zach Glassman, Highland Heights; John Hahn, Kent; Parker Hewit, Westfield Center; Allie White, Lancaster; Erin Misheff, Silver Lake and Justin Lower, Canal Fulton.

Both Hahn and Hewit are making their second appearances in the Championship. In 2006, Hahn tied for third place, the highest finish for an Ohio Player in tournament history, while Hewit tied for 13th.

Since the tournament's debut in 1976, 135 Ohio players, including the 10 in 2007, have competed in the Championship. An Ohio player has finished in the top 10 17 times.

This year's tournament will again include a field of 156 players made up of winners of the 41 Westfield Junior PGA Section Championships, national junior tournament winners, The PGA of America special invites, Callaway Junior Series winners, eligible top 10 finishers from the 2006 Championship, and top- rated juniors.

The most tour-like event in junior golf for players and attendees, the Westfield Junior PGA Championship features roped fairways, covered grandstands, leader boards, pairing sheets, player biographies and a full- service food pavilion.
