MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 2: Studdard to Stutter on Tour

Ruben Studdard, the recent winner of the FOX smash hit American Idol, has decided he's good enough to go on tour. Announced on a radio station in his home state of Alabama, Studdard unveiled a multi-city tour who's first two stops are Mobile and Birmingham, both in Alabama, on the second and fifth of September, respectively. The concert will be free, however, and both the venue box offices as well as Ticketmaster are primed to start distribution on Saturday Morning, August 23rd.

Studdard, whose career took a marked upturn after the American Idol stint, is projected to have his first album released next month. Although most people will agree that American Idol is not-nor can ever be-the equivalent of Starsearch, many do agree that Studdard has some potential. Whether or not the rest of the American public will concur, however, may be another story. Needless to say, much of the appeal for Studdard came from the fact that he was indeed apart of the FOX show, rather than from simply his vocal or musical appeal.

Nonetheless, entertainers and venues in Alabama expect both of Studdard's shows to "sell-out", and for his fan base to steadily grow, if not multiply in leaps and bounds.

Unfortunately, Studdard has one Achilles heel where his concert is concerned, as promoters and venues are requiring concert-goers to be 18, or accompanied by an adult, to purchase tickets. Strikingly dissimilar to other concert distributions, a right-to-work country is also a right-to-purchase country, and it seems odd to many music fans that such a restriction will be enforced. Nonetheless, as the ticket are free, the impetus seems to be geared towards preventing parents with several children from claiming large blocks of tickets.
