MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 2: Harry Potter Fans dub PotterCast Best Entertainment in 2006 Podcast Awards

PotterCast, www.pottercast.com, the Harry Potter podcast from The Leaky Cauldron, http://www.leakynews.com, has been awarded the 2006 Podcast Award for Best Entertainment Podcast, an honor voted upon by thousands of podcast listeners around the globe. It will accept the award at the second annual Podcast Awards in Ontario, Calif., on Friday, Sept. 29, where it is also nominated for Podcast of the Year.

The show is noted in the Harry Potter fandom as a source of revealing news about the franchise, as well as humorous and varied commentary and contests. A large portion of the show also focuses around in-depth discussion of the Harry Potter books.

"We're just uber-geeks about something we love," said co-host Sue Upton. "So we're thrilled to know that our fellow geeks think we're doing a good job."

PotterCast is presented by The Leaky Cauldron, one of the top Potter destinations online, which Potter author J.K. Rowling referred to as a "wonderfully well designed mine of accurate information on all things Harry Potter," and "my favorite fan site." She granted the site a rare interview on the day of the publication of her sixth novel, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."

The podcast builds upon its parent site's long history of interviews with key people within the Harry Potter franchise, by becoming the only Harry Potter related podcast to feaure regular interviews with the cast and crew of the films and editors of the books, as well as other entertainment related luminaries. Past guests have included Arthur Levine, American editor of the Harry Potter books; Matt Lewis, the actor who plays Neville Longbottom; Chris Rankin, the actor who plays Percy Weasley; acclaimed director M. Night Shyamalan, and many more.

"This award comes from a people's choice vote, which means it comes from our listeners," said the show's executive producer, John Noe. "That makes it extraordinarily special."

PotterCast (www.pottercast.com) is the weekly Harry Potter podcast of Webby Award-winning Potter site The Leaky Cauldron (www.leakynews.com), and presents newsworthy information about and in-depth discussion of Harry Potter in a humorous, intelligent and informative program.
