MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 1: iPods and Television Shows

Apple, maker of the widely popular iPod, has recently announced the upcoming release of a brand new iPod that is not just for playing music. A huge number of iPods--including iPod mini, iPod shuffle, and the newest, iPod nano--have been sold throughout the world. Now Apple is looking to expand what it offers. The new video iPod will allow users to have episodes of their favorite television shows in the palm of their hands--literally.

ABC is jumping on the new Apple iPod by offering users the ability to download recently aired episodes of their favorite shows at some future date. The three shows that ABC is promoting for the new iPod are “Lost,” “Night Stalker,” and one of the most popular programs in America, “Desperate Housewives.” For just $1.99, users can go to iTunes and download episodes the day after they are broadcasted.

Some are hesitant about the new iPod, saying it might take viewers away from traditional broadcasting.

The Disney Channel is also going to be part of the new video iPod. The company is offering downloads of two of their most popular shows: m“That’s So Raven” and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”
