The Forgotten Man
After the war is over and all fighting is done
Regardless of who lost or who has won
Out there in the fields of a foreign land
Lives today, a forgotten man
Somebody's brother, a father or son
Or some woman's lover, whose battle's not won
Forgotten by his country, not his fellow men
Who fought beside him and would do it again
He cries in the darkness
"Where is my family, my sweetheart, my friends
Why all this torture, when will it end?
Please God get me out of this land"
These are the cries of a forgotten man
Still no one comes or hears his cries
Don't they care if he lives or dies?
His battle goes on, day after day
While politicians sits, and his love ones pray
This is the plight of the forgotten man.
