WEEKLY NEWS 4: A New Type of Egg
To most of America, eggs are all the same. There are a few small differences; different companies produce the eggs, some eggs may be bigger than others, and some eggs have a brown shell as opposed to the traditional white shell. But one thing that has stayed constant is that they all have the same thing on the inside--egg whites and a yolk.
However, companies have recently decided to expand the variety of eggs available to consumers. New types of eggs include a heart healthy egg and an omega-3 fatty acid egg. What's so special about these eggs? They may help Americans eat a healthier diet.
The thought of a new egg may be a good idea, but it may take a while for health officials to be persuaded that eggs can become healthy. Eggs are notorious for their high cholesterol level, so some health experts are a little wary of the new eggs. Although these new eggs may be slightly healthier, it still does not change the high cholesterol content.
