MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 2: Bratz Beat Barbie
For the first time in 10 years, Barbie has lost her crown as one of the top 10 Christmas toys in Great Britain. In her place are Bratz. These stylish dolls have a passion for fashion.
Great Britain’s view of 40-something Barbie reflects the worldwide trend of “in with the new and out with the old.” Multi-ethnic Bratz are full of attitude and are so stylish that Barbie is green with envy. Isaac Larian is the creator of the two-year-old doll--a toy that so many will desire this Christmas.
According to studies, dolls always dominate the girl sector and this year, Robosapien, an all-dancing, karate-kicking robot, will be popular with boys in Great Britain.
Fifty percent of all annual toy sales happen during the winter gift-giving holidays, like Christmas and Hanukkah.
In classic 1980s toy news, Cabbage Patch Kids are making a comeback this year. The pudgy-faced baby dolls, each a bit different from the next doll (making each doll original), will be “up for adoption” this Christmas.
