MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT 1: Ozzy Osbourne Critically Injured
A very serious event took place on Monday, December 8th in London. Famous
heavy metal music artist and television star, Ozzy Osbourne, was in a terrible
accident that landed him in the hospital. He was riding a four-wheeler at his
estate in Buckinghamshire, in southern England. While on a often-used path, he
apparently hit a foreign object and both he and the bike were thrown into the air.
Unfortunately, the four-wheeler landed on top of him, crushing him against the ground.
Rushed immediately to the Wexham Park Hospital in Slough, west of London,Osbourne underwent
emergency surgery for his injuries, which included a fracture to
his left collarbone, eight broken ribs, and a fractured vertebrae in his neck.
The surgery was also necessary to restore the bloodflow to damaged vessels.
Ozzy Osbourne, born John Osbourne, grew up in Birmingham, central England; he would go on to
become, according to many, the king of heavy metal. Gaining his fame music group Black Sabbath,
Ozzy and clan rocked the 1970s in a way unseen in prior years. Today, Ozzy Osbourne is featured
in a successful MTV television series, "The Osbournes", on which he stars as "The
Dad."
Since the accident Ozzy Osbourne has stopped breathing on various occassions; once, a security guard had to revive him. His wife, Sharon Osborne, said in an interview, "He had stopped
breathing for a minute and a half and there was no pulse." He is currently on
a hospital ventilator and will continue to be on it until his gets better.
Ozzy's family and doctors are hoping and praying that are no lasting damages to
the beloved father, husband, and friend. However, there is really no way of
telling whether or not there are any lasting damages, the only way that they
could tell is when Ozzy comes around and starts talking again without the
ventilator.
