U.S. GOVERNMENT 1: Threat Level Raised for Holidays

While most Americans are taking a break during the holiday season, terrorists are busy making plans. Officials in the United States government have received information that al-Qaeda or other terrorist organizations are planning large attacks on major cities around the country. These terrorist strikes may involve the use of airplanes, which were used as weapons during the September 11th attacks. Because of these concerns, the nation's terrorism threat level has been raised from Code Yellow to Code Orange.

The increase in the threat level affects how the US government will manage national security for the next few weeks. Special teams are getting prepared to respond to terrorism strikes if they occur. The government will provide assistance to help local medical authorities. Experts will watch out for weapons of mass destruction and will monitor our air for radiation or biological agents.

The threat of terrorism is also rising in countries outside of the United States. Several flights from Los Angeles to France have been canceled because officials were worried about a possible hijacking of these airplanes. The US government is working closely with the international community to ensure a safe holiday season for everyone.
