VOLCANO ERUPTION

There is a volcano called Guagua Pichincha near Quito, Ecuador. Ecuador is a country in South America and Quito is its capital.

This is the first time in over 300 years that this volcano was close to erupting. This volcano is 15,700 feet high and has been rumbling and throwing ash since Monday September 27, 1999. At this time, the government in Ecuador told the people living there to get ready for a possible eruption. The Ecuador Geophysical Institute said an eruption is a 90% possibility.

People who are planning to travel to Ecuador are being told to watch the local news for any volcano updates.
