STEVE
YOUNG TO MISS A GAME
Steve
Young is the San Francisco 49ers quarterback. On Monday September
27, 1999 during the Monday night football game against the Arizona
Cardinals, Young suffered a concussion, which is a jarring of
the brain from a blow to the head. This injury will cause him
to miss at least a week of game action.
Young
took a scary hit about halfway through Monday night's game, which
left him with his fourth concussion since the 1996 season. Young
actually was knocked out for many seconds after the hit before
he woke up and walked off the field on his own. Young had an MRI
on Tuesday to see if there was much damage to his head. An MRI
is an extensive picture of the inside of a person's head.
Coach
Steve Mariucci stated that Young's MRI came back normal but that
his doctor said that it would be best to sit Young out of the
game next week. The
coach also stated, "He will participate in practice but will not
play against Tennessee. We will re-evaluate Steve's status next
week."
The
San Francisco 49ers won the Monday night game against Arizona
24 - 10.
