RED SOX IN BASEBALL PLAYOFFS

The baseball season is quickly coming to a close. Teams are one-by-one clinching playoff spots.

Boston won a spot by beating the Chicago White Sox in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday, September 29, 1999. The team celebrated on the field with "high-fives" but the big celebration had to wait until the second game of the doubleheader was played.

The Boston Red Sox are headed to the playoffs for the second year in a row. This is the first time that this team has made the playoffs two years in a row since the 1915 and 1916 seasons.

The Red Sox have a 91-66 record so far this season and will play either the Cleveland Indians or the Texas Rangers in the first round of playoff games.
