The Boston
Red Sox took all five games of the division series versus
the
Cleveland Indians to come out the winner.
Boston
was down 0 - 2 to the Indians after the first two games in the series.
The Red Sox fought back winning Game Three in Boston, Game Four by a
score of 23 - 7, and Game Five by a score of 12 - 8!
The 23
runs that the Red Sox scored in Game Four broke a 63-year-old playoff
record for the amount of runs scored by one team in one game. The old
record was held by the New York Yankees when, back in 1936, they beat
the New York Giants 18 - 4.
The New
York Yankees swept the Texas Rangers in their division
series. The Yankees have beaten the Rangers in three of the last four
seasons in the division playoffs. The Yankees will now play Boston for
the American League Division Title.
In the
National League, the Atlanta Braves beat the Houston Astros. The Braves
won the series 3 - 1 and will now play in the National League Championship
Series for the eighth consecutive year.
Last of
all, the Mets beat the Diamondbacks. The series score was 3 - 1. The
Mets will move on to the National League Championship Series for the
first time since 1988 where they will play the Atlanta Braves. The Braves
beat the Mets in nine of 12 games this past regular season.
We will
continue to follow the baseball playoffs as they continue! At press
time, the Atlanta Braves were ahead in the National League Championship
series 2 - 0 and the New York Yankees were ahead in the American League
Championship series 2 - 0.
