HINGIS WINS A PORSCHE

Martina Hingis is currently the top-ranked women's tennis player in the world. On October 10, 1999, she won her seventh title of the year at the Porsche Grand Prix in Filderstadt, Germany. This is the third time she has won this tournament.

Hingis beat Mary Pierce 6 - 4, 6 - 1 during the final match which took 65 minutes to complete. This year's first prize was a Porsche convertible.

Hingis won this same tournament in 1996 for her first professional single's tennis title. The first prize in the tournament that year was $520,000.

Hingis said, "It is always special to play here, where I won my first title."
