BASEBALL
PLAYOFFS CONTINUE
The
baseball playoffs continued this week and the league champions were
decided. Both the American League and the National League championship
series were very exciting!
The
American League Championship Series was between the Boston Red Sox and
the New York Yankees. The second to last game in the series began when
the daughter of baseball great Babe Ruth, Julia Ruth Stevens, threw
the first pitch. Babe Ruth played for both the Red Sox and the Yankees.
He first played for the Red Sox from 1914 through 1918. Then the Red
Sox sold him to the Yankees where he played for 15 seasons!
The
Yankees won this series in five games by a score of 4- 1. The final
score
of game 5 was Yankees 9 and Boston 1. The Yankees scored two runs in
the first inning and that was all the runs they needed for the win.
The
National League Series between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets
was exciting baseball! This series lasted for six games. Five out of
these six games were decided by one run and two of these games went
into extra innings! The Atlanta Braves won the series by a score of
4 games to 2.
