PLANE SCARE IN MYANMAR

Myanmar is a country in Asia. It is located between India, China, and Thailand. It is almost twice the size of Germany covering an area of 676,552 kilometers.

Myanmar was known as Burma until 1989. It was in that year that this country changed its name. Buddhism is the national religion of Myanmar as about 85% of the population are Buddhists.

In Yangon, Myanmar an Airbus 320 plane had a close call with a bad landing and possible accident. An Indian Airlines plane with 92 people onboard slid off a runway into deep mud while it was trying to land in heavy rain and wind.

The accident happened late on Tuesday, October 26, 1999. The plane was traveling from Calcutta to Yangon.

The weather was bad at Yangon's international airport and that may have been the cause of the accident. Fortunately all 92 people on board the plane were not hurt.
