WORLD'S
LARGEST CRUISE SHIP
The
world's largest cruise ship opened for business on Sunday, November
21, 1999. Royal Caribbean created the ship that is called Voyager of
the Seas.
Voyager
of the Seas is like a floating town or even a city. The ship is taller
than the Statue of Liberty and longer than three hundred yards which
is the length of three football fields! There is room for almost 4,000
passengers!
Inside
the vessel is unbelievable! There are three pools, a health club, showrooms,
casinos, and a climbing wall four-stories tall. In addition to these
features there is also an ice-skating rink, an in-line skating track,
and a regulation size basketball court. Also, for the passengers who
love to shop, there is a four-story indoor shopping/entertainment area.
Voyager
of the Seas weighs 142,000 tons, which is more than twice the size of
the Titanic, and it is worth 700 million dollars! The Grand Princess
is now the second largest cruise ship and that weighs in at 109,000
tons.
Only time
will tell if vacationers enjoy the new cruise ship. Voyager of the Seas
will now see whether biggest is really best!
