TOY SAFETY
REPORT
The
Thanksgiving holiday is often thought of as the beginning of the winter
holiday season. This is a holiday season where people give and receive
gifts in abundance. It is also the time of the year when yearly toy
safety reports are released to the public.
Rachel
Weintraub, a staff attorney for the U.S. Public Interest Research Group
states, "The number of toy hazards appears to be declining and the vast
majority of toys finally include tough new choke hazard warnings that
will help prevent future deaths. But parents must remember that just
because a toy appears on the shelf…doesn't mean that it is safe."
Here is
a list of toys that the research group found to be somewhat dangerous
for children:
*Children's
makeup and jewelry toys
*Erasers
in the shapes of bloodshot eyes
*Bats
and pumpkins
*Cars,
trucks, jeeps and other vehicles
*Soft-bodied
baby dolls made with small parts
*Soft
baby blocks
*Some balloons
Kids, have
fun, but remember: you cannot be too careful with the toys you receive
this holiday season.
