About the Writer:

LAURA M. SCHNEIDER I am taking a leave of absence from my position at The Post, an independent student-run newspaper at Ohio University, to participate in the semester in Washington D.C. program. I am a junior at OU and will graduate in Spring of 2002. What I'll do post-graduation has a lot to do with this internship. I want to use this internship to examine as many areas of the profession of journalism as possible, to determine what I'd like to do with my life. I'm working on minors in both political science and English. At The Post, I covered several beats including Faculty and Curriculum and Administration. I've also worked at The Chronicle-Telegram in my home town of Elyria for several years.
